Franchising in the Unite States Economy
According to Darrell Johnson, president of FranData Corp., and author of Franchising in the Economy; a study done by the University of Louisville, franchising helped lead America out of its economic downturn during 1991-1993.

Franchising is a unique business model that encourages the growth of franchised chain formula units because franchisors collect royalties on gross sales of these units and not on profits. Conversely, when good jobs are lost in the economy, franchising becomes more prominent because potential franchisees are looking to buy jobs while earning profits from the purchase of franchise rights. The manager of the United States Small Business Administration's Franchise Registry concludes that franchising is continuing to grow and that it is helping to grow the national economy as well.

Franchise Bible
As Franchise Bible, Erwin J. Keup's states: "... Franchising, in business language, is a method of marketing through which successful business owners (potential Franchisors) expand the retail distribution of their goods or services by contracting with independent, third parties. These third parties (potential franchisees) agree to operate the retail sales or services and implementing marketing methods at their capital costs. ..."
